Ask, Advise, Refer to Quit Don’t Switch
Based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Ask-Advise-Refer model, the Ask, Advise, Refer to Quit Don’t Switch training is available for free to all healthcare providers including respiratory therapists, primary care providers and more. Throughout the training you will be able to access updated tools and strategies for making an effective smoking or vaping intervention for patients using any tobacco product including cigarettes, e-cigarettes and even dual-users (people who use both types of products). This training is accredited to offer one-hour of continuing education.

This training is free for all healthcare professionals and other lung health advocates who may be interested in this online training.
What can I expect from this training?
This one-hour, on-demand online training is based on the CDC’s Ask, Advise, Refer brief intervention model. This training includes tobacco basics:
- Addressing e-cigarette use
- An overview of the AAR Brief Intervention Model including conducting the Ask, Advise and Refer
- Conducting a follow-up
- Relapse prevention
- Patient case scenario practice.
A post-training evaluation can be completed to qualify for continuing education or contact hours credit for some healthcare professions.
